Review: Big Top Treachery (a Circus Cozy Mystery)

by CeeCee James

I just finished “Big Top Treachery” and I really liked it.  It was set in a Circus in Florida and told a very interesting mystery story. I loved the diminutive Trixie, the main character, and several of the others in the circus as well, including a kind cabin-mate, a horse & a dog, and a maybe-sweetheart dog trainer. Of course there were also meanies and villains and it was fun guessing who the murderer could be.

I liked how Trixie grew stronger, from a very timid, scared girl to one who was brave enough to try to find out how a fellow circus mate was murdered. (She did some amazing things, overcoming terrible phobias!) Big Top Treachery is set at Christmas time, but isn’t an actual Christmas story.

The author has written a previous book “Cirque de Slay” which introduces Trixie. And I’m looking forward to the next in the series titled “Three Ring Murder”. They all have lovely covers as you can see.
